We have
removed past issues of “News to Use” which are more than a year old, to make
sure information you find on our website is current and reliable. We
encourage you to use the Employer Online
Guide from within the Employer Portal as your source for PERSI
information. Much of the information from the old newsletters is now
presented in the Employer Online Guide,
but outdated information is removed or brought up to date. If you don’t find the information you are looking for, use the
“Suggestion Box” on the Main page to send us an email and we will find it
for you and modify the index so it’s easy to find the next time.

Choice Plan
Employer Responsibility for Limits Testing
Employers are responsible for monitoring an employee's
contributions to supplemental plans. Our Deputy Attorney General has developed these guidelines to help employers with their responsibility regarding Gain Sharing, 401(k), 403(b) and 457 plan limits testing.

| Public Safety Officer Death Benefit Increases Employer Contribution Rates |

PERSI Executive Director |
Legislation passed effective July 1, 2003 moved the public safety officer death benefit program from the State Board of Examiners to PERSI. All Class 2, A, B, and D members are eligible and funding for the program will be covered by a .10% increase in employer contributions. Employee contributions were not changed. |
| Choice Plan Voluntary Contributions |

Employees can begin making tax-deferred contributions to the Choice Plan through payroll deductions beginning July 1, 2001. |

State Employees Permitted to Use Internet for Retirement Programs
